We were excited to see some petroglyphs in Nevada but noticed the sun was about to set. One of the hardest thing about being a fine art photographer is capturing the whole landscape. Precious time is ticking as the light and landscape changes and you only have quite literally minutes to capture the moment.
According to records not much is known about Nevada petroglyphs in butte canyon. They are dated between 700 years to several thousand years. Which leaves the mystery even more.
I remember thinking and imagining the parties and the announcements leaders and groups had. The mountains and canyons look like stairs and right in the canyon there is a giant hole. It’s gorgeous.
My imagination gets the best of me, I imagined drums and fired at night. Dances and festive eating around the area. Ancient tribes camping and living around the canyon I photograph. Tribes telling tales of the art work in the rocks and his they lived. The dances done and how they had fun in such a beautiful place.
